Blue tooth

Hi you All.
I have a dell 6400 running on win 10
This laptop cannot detect the blue-tooth mini card.
In device manager i don't see the icon.
When i try to install the drivers its cannot find the device.

Any help please.

I didn't know that Broadcom was the default for Dell. Did you look at the site that Hal Posted? Do you have the driver CD that comes with Dell?

Eh, IIRC, Broadcom is 1 of the 2 or 3 most common card makers,
the driver package from BroadComm or Lenovo apparently works with 6400 laptop.

Here's another piece of trivia. Non windows users despise Broadcom.

I have follow and try all advice but no luck. I think win 10 does not support the blue tooth.
The dell 6400 is config for window Vista. I don't have the cd with the drivers from dell. i should be only for win vista. Any way thanks for the help.

You could try this go to Dells website and look for support and drivers. Next put in your service tag number and look for the blue tooth driver and download it to a place on your computer where you can find it. After you find the download then right click on the driver and look for compatibility and then click on check for compatibility issues. It might solve your problem and it might not it just depends but I have had success with everything I have tried so far.

Don't be too worried about "supported", it just means tested with Win-10 and guaranteed to work.
Many Win-7 drivers are similar enough to Windows-10 that they will work.

There appear to be several people with dell e6400/6400 laptops who have gotten the bluetooth working, either with BroadComm or Lenovo drivers (even though they were for a different operating system).

However, it can take time and patience, backing up the system configuration,
installing drivers, re-start the computer, try the blue tooth... repeat as necessary.

I agree with Hal-S you sometimes have to force a driver but it still has to go past compatibility testing by Windows 10 or most likely the driver will be rejected. I also agree that you should be able to find Windows 7 drivers if not for that model of Dell laptop then a newer model should work the same. The cards and motherboards don't usually change much in regards to blue tooth cards or network cards. The biggest change from year to year is in the processor speed and many times the graphics but not anything dealing with blue tooth or network connections most of the time.
