Can a sent e mail be changed?

I had received an e mail from a supervisor that had some very questionable content on my company tablet. I went back later to copy the email to save and noticed that the original email no longer read the same and the questionable content was gone. Is it possible to change emails after they are sent? Is it possible to retrieve the original somehow?

In some cases emails can be recalled. A very nice woman who did taxes for some of my family, accidentally sent me some emails that had to do with some of her real estate business. I read it but didn't care about the content. I never even mentioned it, to her, Apparently, she realized it & recalled it. The point is that it is possible.

Is that only if they are both on the same company server?

I believe it's a feature of OUTLOOK only. G-mail has a similar feature but it's time dependent.

AOL back in the 90's could be edited as long as the recipient hadn't opened it. I do not recall if it had to be an AOL recipient or if you could edit any email sent to any server.
I have not experienced any other email server where you could edit email after being sent, but I am not familiar with them all including Outlook.
