Lenovo sound is gone

I have a year old Lenovo thinkpad running Windows 10 that has lost its sound capability. No sound from videos or programs that used to at least have an intro signal. I checked the sound activator at the bottom of the screen for being muted and it is not. Moving it back and forth from mute to unmute makes no difference. How do I run a troubleshoot check before i take it back to the store?

Right click on that icon and select "open volume mixer".
There you can see and set all your audio levels.

Did Windows update just before this happened?

I'd suspect a bad driver from Microsoft - they push them out with updates and not all work. Check the Lenovo website for the correct driver for your system.

Also, if you right-click on your sound icon on the taskbar, there should be a 'sound settings' you can go into. I've had something change on me out of the blue. There should also be a troubleshooting option there.

Lenovo sound Gone

Thanks everybody! I have Rick James back singing "super Freak" on my system again!

I found the trouble shooter on the sound after right clicking the icon Pete Mentioned, and saw the button for it and did the test. It must have been a glitch in the driver?
