How do you remove the white background of a photo I copied from another program? It is on my desktop.
I have Windows 1909 with Word 2019 and no special photo programs. Word says to select background but it does not work for me.

You'll need to edit the image directly.

You should have "photos" installed on your PC. If you open the picture with that you can edit it to remove the background.

Make a copy first, just in case!

You'll have to trace it manually. It won't do anything automatically. In Paint 3D, there's a magic select option to remove things. Not sure how it works on backgrounds, but maybe it'll help. If you have Win10, you should have it or be able to download free.

Do you mean the background or the white border around the picture?

You are showing a picture open in Photos. That's the default view and the white background is normal.

Find the file, open it using Photos (likely your default app). To select a portion of the picture select "edit & create" at the top. Then choose "edit", finally choose "crop."
