Charging laptop

My electrically powered recliner has a USB port. I've used this to charge my iphone. Can i charge my MacBook Air using a USB A to USB C cable in the Lightning port?

No but only because the USB C will not fit in the lightning port - you must have that at the end of the cable.

If you get the correct cables or adapters you can charge from a USB A port. How long the charge takes will depend on the power output of your chair's port. I think Lightening can handle 9 watts but USB A maxes out at 2.5 so it will charge but it may take almost four times as long.

I made a mistake! I believe the port on my MacBook Air (2014) is a Thunderbolt 1 or 2. I don't think I can charge my battery with that! Thanks guys!

It probably uses a magnetic charging connection.

It does, but I was hoping I could charge it through a regular USB port as I can do with my phone!

No, you must use the magnetic charging port.
