Tracking Software

Recently I noticed when I search various sites the URL bar at the top of my screen changes for a split second before I go to my selected site. I was able to pick part of the name which is “svrtrack.....” but I think there are more..

I run Windows10 and use Firefox and all my system updates and Windows security are up today

I understand these tracking software collect shopping habits and I wonder if there is anything I can do to prevent tracking

Thanks

In your browser you have a settings menu. Click that, go to privacy and security, and set up the options the way you want.

Hit the Windows-key, then type "task" which will give you to option to start "Task Manager." Select the option to run as administrator.
First, check the list of applications which are enabled at startup- you can generally disable everything that isn't antivirus or synced cloud storage.
Next, go to the "processes" tab and stop "svrtrack" and see what happens.

Also download the free version of SuperAntiSpyware. It runs in the background but you can also run scans.

My setting on Firefox was set to standard and I change it to strict. Lets see what will happen now

I forgot about the Task Manager, good idea, but I didn’t see any "svrtrack" entry there neither anything else suspicious.

I will also evaluate the SuerAntiSpyware and see if it fits my needs

Use duckduckgo
I have been happy using: https://startpage.com, it is more secure being https. and does a pretty good job searching.
