Cursor jumps all over

I have an old Dell laptop P13F that I bought used earlier this year and it runs great except for one problem. The cursor jumps all over the screen. I use a corded mouse bought at Walmart made by ONN stock no. 100009059, the same type mouse that I've been using for years. I've replaced the mouse several times but the cursor problem is still there. Any suggestions what I can do to fix this problem? It's driving me nuts! Thank you in advance.

This may or may not help, but since you're using an external mouse, have you tried disabling the internal touchpad?

Isn't that wonderful with the Dells. Trust me..... there is only one way to stop it.
Download..... touchfreeze.
I've used it for years. It is free, It's safe. It works exactly as intended.
It loads when the computer starts and appears in the task bar as an operating program.
