Can't find printer port for Canon Printer Scanner
Like I said in another thread, things are not good for me this week. I managed to brick my main desktop computer.
In an effort to connect my Canon MG3220 printer after installing a new router, I keep getting a No Port can be detected for printer. Which means I no longer have wireless ability. I have the original installation disc. So apparently in the process of removing all traces of the printer via REVO uninstaller, I removed some critical registry component and computer will no longer start. But that is not what I'm asking about.
I took an older computer and tried the same install of printer with the same error. So, it's not the computer.
Can't seem to figure out the problem. I treid everything that the Internet suggested. Can it be something with the router?
Funny thing is I can get the scanner to work, but through the Canon install disc. That means the very convenient menu option is not available.
Not sure if I have question or not. Looking for comments.

You mentioned you purchased a new router. What router did you go with? Does the Canon printer connect to the new router and is it assigned an IP address? If so, and you can't connect the printer wirelessly to the computer, have you tried adding an IP port rather than the WSD port that the drive normally installs? I have found that the IP port is more reliable. I assign an IP address to the printer in the router and setup an IP port for the printer using that IP address.

That's an awful old printer. I had a newer model of that one (still old) and I was always having to reinstall the drivers to get it to connect to the router. Did you try reinstalling? It should connect during the process.

Since it's an older printer, try running the install utility as an older Windows version.
Download the latest printer drivers and install them.

Norm, maybe time for a new printer? When I started having trouble with mine, it was just one thing after another. Finally just got a new one.

When you log into the router does the printer show as a connected device? usual IP is http://192.168.2.1 often the default login is admin password admin
Could a firewall be blocking it?

Using an IP program called SoftPerfect WiFi Guard the printer IP address is 192.168.0.181
No firewall blocking it
The exact error code is:
New Port Could Not Be Created: 0023
It does show as one of my wireless clients in the router. But interestingly it does not show the name of the appliance as it does the other wireless items. It just shows an * then the IP, the MAC address, and the connection type (2.4g)
