Acer Inspire - Blue Screen

Running Windows 10. Starting acting weird then refused to work at all. Got this screen:

No matter which option I choose - nothing works. Gets stuck on uninstalling updates. If I click repair - says unable to repair. I tried restore points and it says there are none but I know there is at least one. Tried all of these options on the computer and then from a Windows bootable USB drive - nothing. The only thing I haven't tried is a complete reset / reinstall. Trying to avoid that if I can. Any pointers?

I had the exact same thing happen to my previous laptop. Tried every trick in the book. Nothing worked. I'm pretty sure it was the drive. I ended up buying a new laptop. Some one else may have a better idea.

Thanks Shadeladie. May try a complete reinstall as a last resort. Have lots of old programs that are no longer supported that I'll lose but oh well.

Here is a trick I've used on failing drives. Trove the drive, seal it in an airtight freezer bag snd put it in the freezer for at least 48 hours.

Remove it from the bag, quickly hook it up and boot the machine. It sounded hokey to me, but it worked surprisingly often.

Are you using CHKDSK on the correct partition - the results in the image appear to be for the recovery partition X:

Also, CHKDSK needs to be used with /R parameter to check for bad sectors i.e. CHKDSK C: /R
