The hinge on my Dell Inspiron 3200 laptop has become very tight, to the point of a small crack forming in the lid.
Does anyone have a recommendation on what to lubricate the hinges with?

You might try silicone spray. It's not petroleum-based, like WD-40 and others, which might affect the finish. It doesn't last as long, though and you'll need to apply it on a regular basis.

Crack hinges on laptops accur when the hinge is loose, it seems that someone tighten the hinge and didn't notice any cracks. This is a very common design flaw with laptops, I've seen this with IBM and Dell most often.
