Racer Computer modem
#1
Have blown away a corupted hard drive on a fairly new Racer Computer 500mhz. It is up and running fine now except for the modem driver for the 56k v.90 card. Went to WinDrivers.com, but no help. Contacted Racer Computers for them to email me an attachment, but no luck? SUGGESTIONS?

P.S. It is my daughter's computer for school.

You're probably going to need to pop the top and see if the card make and chip type are printed on the card.
Also try the manufactures web site for brand and model info.

I would just go buy a new modem, who knows who the manufacturer of that one was! Go to Best Buy etc and pick up a US Robotics modem and be done with all the hassles. They support their equipment and hold up very well! Besides modems are cheap now, less than $50 for a brand name. If not like was mentioned, pop the can, pull the modem (power off of course.) Then look the drivers up. Oh yea, forget about Windrivers, can you believe they now want us to pay $50 a year for access to something that is free? http://www.driverguide.com is another very good site for drivers. You should go check the boards at windrivers and read all the people, including myself that have told them to stick it! They were sold and some suit with a pen and paper instead of a broom decided to charge... I volunteered to make the tombstone though...
