Question macromedia products

I was wondering what the difference was between Fireworks and Flash. I know Flash a bit and have seen the Fireworks interface which looks like another drawing program to me but don't know the main difference between the two. Appreciate any feedback.

In the end they both edit graphics but my understanding is that Fireworks was designed to go with Dreamweaver. Hence, it edits pixel based graphic files for web pages.

Flash on the the other hand was designed to go with Shockwave and they are desgned for customized web graphics and applications.

Both Shockwave and Flash files require special players to be viewed on your computer. While, Dreamweaver and Fireworks files can be viewed in any web browser.

Hope that helps.
