Download problem

I recently had to un-install, then re-install, Internet Explorer. Now I find that I am unable to download anything. When I try, I get no "open now or save to disc" message, just a screen showing a broken piece of film with no further explanation. This has happened at various download sites. Is there a setting within Internet Explorer I should be changing or adjusting?? Thanks!

Cool More, more, more...

Which IE is it? 5.0? 6.0? OS? Computer Mhz? Memory? There is no uninstall of IE, you will need to use the repair feature of IE assuming it has this ability… have you gotten into IE settings from the "Tools" option to see if you have "Install on demand turned on?" Folks y’all have to tell us what you have, a 1981 car… Ford? Chevy? Dodge? And away we go…

Hi BigMike,
I'm running Internet Explorer 5 (going to upgrade as soon as I can figure out how to fix my download problem). OS is Windows 98. Mhz is 650. RAM is 128MB. I couldn't find a repair feature of IE (where should I be looking?). Install on demand is checked. And I just installed this version of IE; I doubt that uninstalling and re-installing would change anything.

Oh, and I'm driving a '98 Ford Ranger.

Thanks!

Cool 6.0

Hey guy, go get IE 6.0. You must have a corrupt version of 5.0. Don't worry about fixing 5.0. IE 6.0 is a large download so you may wish to start it before you crash if you are on dialup, better part of 15 megs. I drive a Cadillac 1981 beast now a "Collector". Didn't mean to sound mean but I did didn't I? Slap me next time you see me G`Nite sir...

Bigmike...I'd love to download IE 6.0...in fact, that's what I was trying to do when I discovered I cannot download anything with my 5.0. And Microsoft charges $20 for them to send me a disc (I don't think so). You're the second person to advise me to download an updated version to take care of the fact that I'm unable to download anything. And no, you didn't sound mean...I didn't initially include my computer's vitals 'cause I figured that wouldn't make a difference (and it hasn't). Thanks for all your help.

Typically file downloads are enabled by default, but look under >Secuity >Custom Level "Downloads" to be sure. Depending on the download Drag & drop, under Miscellaneous items, should be enabled or set to prompt.

Try going to settings. Click control panel, add/remove. Scroal down to enternet explorer and tools. Click on add/remove. That will take you your tools. Click repair.. I hope this helps.
I am having trouble with to many copies of my files which I haven't ask for placed in my program files. Any ideas?
