Spy Blocker
Hi everyone,
I read the post about spyware, I already have ad-aware 5.5 so I dl spy blocker.
My question is, when I downloaded it to desktop it put a zipped folder on desktop. I opened it and it installed, but it won't let me delete the the zipped file folder or move it to the spy blocker folder under program files. It says source file may be in use. What can I do?
Also, I dragged and dropped the spy blocker icon from accessories to the desktop. How do I get it back into accesories?
Thanks

When I DL Spy Blocker I put the ZIP in my downloads folder. I made two folders in there named ZIP & UNZIPED then I allways DL Zips to the ZIP & un zip to my UNZIP folder & make my shortcut from there to the desktop.
I did this in the first place because of the same problem you are having. Maybe some one here knows how to get the Zip off the Desktop.
If someone knows how to move a downloaded program from the desk top to another folder, I also would like to know. It seems a lot easier to download to desktop and execute from there, but then I can't remove it.

This is the first time I dl something to desktop, and it won't delete. Was this the actual file, or the setup I dl to desktop? I don't know how these things work, I just do it and it usually works. So do I unistall, then reinstall to a folder or what? Thanks, Jay

Unless someone comes along and tells us how to get the program that is sitting on your destop into another folder. That's exactly what I would do.
Sorry I don't know how or I would get some of those ugly MS Icons off my desktop also.
I have had this happen to many times that I just set up a my name-Downloads folder with the Zip & Un Zipped folders inside.
One advantage is in one folder I have the zip file so I can reinstall a corupted program or send it to a friend. Then in the Un Zipped folder I have all my files to make shortcuts to my desktop with.
Of course you could try to delete it and see if it still works. I believe that sometimes MS says things like that just in case you really need the file. Who knows it might work, and what do you have to lose, you can go DL it again.

Remove MS Icons?
Is the way to remove some of the Icons like Outlook Express and some of the MS Icons that say that they won't let you remove them from the desktop? Also one more question. Is it better to donload files to the desktop than to folders? Thanks for the answer to our dilemina.

That worked. I just unchecked, "show web content", under "active desktop" and deleted the icon off the desktop, and then rechecked it. Don't know where it went, wasn't in the recycle bin. Then cut and pasted the spyblocker icon back into accessories. To many setting's, I can't remember all of them.
Thanks bigmike. Jay

Personally I never download to the desktop. When the question pops up to save the download select the drive you want to save to and create a new folder via the icon provided in the right hand upper corner of the download dialog box. Name it and click save.

Hello Jay
You are going to like Spy Blocker. There is not much to it. You can set it up to display a number of colors or the bug.
I choose the bug because it reminded me of what the spies were doing. As the help will tell you it will let you see the page that are blocked if you want to.
It sure caught me by surprise to see just who was spying on me. I now have changed some of my freeware by getting rid of the bugs & replacing them with other companies software.
We have been warned about freeware and TNFL (There's No Free Lunch) I also run another free ware program from the same good folks called(Pop Up Killer). Now once again it is a pleasure to surf the web.
I really like the pop like a .22 shot, Optional when it shoots down a popup. You can disable it quickly as it might shoot down something you want, but that's rare and after a while it will learn and ask you first. I am sure glad to see that there are so many good people out there who hate this Spyware and pop ups as much as we do.
Remember you must first setup Spy Blocker before it is activated. BOL Marturo

Hi Marturo,
What do you mean by setting it up? My" help" in Spyblocker will not come up, only shows "this page cannot be displayed". Must be the server or something. I surfed and dl some songs yesterday for 4 hours, and the spyblocker showed 70 cookies, 0 spyware, 17 scripts, 51 bugs, 70 ad's, and 0 worms. So what does that mean? What are bugs? What are scripts? Did it block 70 ad's? What are worms? I really lost now!!
I have alittle prog. "Pop-up-Stopper" that I dl last week, but I have had it disabled since yesterday to see if Spyblocker would stop the popup's, and I guess it has. Don't know if I need it anymore. You really get bombbarded with ad's. Tell me more about setting up colors or the bug?
Thanks Jay

All the directions and explanations are in the help FAQ that came with the download or on the website for the product. Too much to read to try to explain it here. I know real men don’t read the destructions but for something like this you need too.

Working just ok!
Bigmike is right, just too much to answer here. Learn slowly. Already from what you have told me, it is up and working and everything you just mentioned are things that were blocked from telling on you.
So just kick back, and relax and enjoy surfing and learning form the internet again. Spy Blocker is watching your back.
Have fun, stay safe, Marturo
