System Tray

I want to remove some programs from starting up automatically when I boot up in Windows 98. I did this before, but I don't recall the steps. What I do recall getting to a list of all the programs in my system tray and having the option to check or uncheck a specific program as I desired. I just can't recall how I got to that listing in the first place. Thanks in advance for your help.
