I went about 6 months without having any ink in my black in cartrige... I replaced the cartrige with a new one(Epson) and Can only get about 3 heads working.... I've ran the cleaning cycle about 15 time and I still only get about 3 dashes on the black printout pattern. I don't want to take it pay to get it serviced. Is there not a way to manually clean the heads?

Try taking a lint-free cloth and dabbing on some rubbing alcohol. Then, remove the black cartridge and carefully clean the ink port as well as the plate that the cartridge touches in the printer. This worked for me on an ink-jet plotter that hadn't been used in months. Just be careful not to touch any of the surfaces with your fingers since your skin oils can foul things up.

Hope this helps,

JC
