For anyone using MS-Office 2000 in the Small Business version, the Premium version, or the Professional version, Microsoft has issued a Security Repair (SR1) for both the parent software and a security repair for MS Outlook2000 email software.

I recommend that you do not load either upgrade. The repair to Office-2000 has proven to interfer with normal operation of such programs as Excel and Access. The only cure for the failed programs is to unload the entire software package and reload the basic Office software again.

To prevent virus attacks, the upgrade for MS Outlook 2000 prevents any form of file attachment from entering your mailbox. This is a case of overkill. It is not required if you have a decent anti-virus software in residence (Norton of McAfee).

Be warned. Beware! Leave the Microsoft upgrades alone and you will continue to operate normally.
