hard drive jumper settings.

Hi,
I have hp pavillion computer & quantum hard drive. I found that the 40th pin is the user configurable setting. But I do not know what it means or what I should do to make the hard drive a slave. Do I need to insulate it or something? I believe it is set to master. I would like to change it to slave. I visited quantum site to gather information. But still I do not know what to do.
Please help.
Regards,
Naidu.

Give me the model number off the drive and I will advise you what to do. But... Are U installing a second drive? No other reason to set this one as a slave unless installing a new, bigger, faster drive. Tim Allen is the man
