trojan type virus

Need method to remove "troj fillhdd.a".
Manifested as "EXPLORER.SCD" in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\EXPLORER.SCR

It drops superflous files, cookies, and folders. Mostly in shared media files, internet temp folders, and start menu progam files
that have been unused and idle for two weeks to a month or
more.

I removed all contents from windows temp files, shared media
folders, and uninstalled all nonessential start program programs.
[Mostly games ,media players, and unused files,programs,folders....etc.

Most dropped files and folders had the same icon as the "exp.scr"
A similar "exp.scr" file appears in start menu documents occasionally.

The .scr file resists deletion by claiming disk write-protect . And
in wordpad it resists clear commands and text changes by claiming to be in use by other applications. And my virus scan tools won"t quarentien the file.

I cannot move this file , only veiw it's properties and open it
with "shift+right-click" and use "open with..."

If I just right-click ,the top field presents "TEST, and INSTALL"....

Any help will be much appreciated.

Mark

Symantec

The safest and most efficient way and in my opinion the only way to thoroughly remove a virus is to format and re-install. Other than that go to http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/index.html and see what they advise to do.

virus

Or McAfee... www.mcafee.com

Either way, buy yourself a virus checker and keep it up to date with the upgrades. If you value your data, it's a small price to pay.
