windows refuses to shut down

windows refuses to shut down

i have a gateway g6 350 with windows 98se. I cannot get the machine to shutdown with the command. i have to manually shut it down when it reaches " windows is shutting down " what can i do to have it work as it should?

Go to the Microsoft Knowledge base. There is a patch for this shutdown problem.

Think about upgrading to Windows 2000/XP. They are MUCH more stable then 98

Correct.....and about twice as resource hungry. Don't forget there are still LOTS of people out there still struggling along with P1 (or below) machines. Try running 2000 on a 486!
