Sloppy mouse

What can be done about a "slipping" mouse pad? I have tried cleaning the mouse. It works fine on my bare desk.

If it doesn't bother you to use it on the desk just use the mouse there. It will probably just need cleaned more often.

Other than that all I can suggest is to replace the mouse pad.

I've given up and switched to optical mice and trackballs. Haven't missed the clean gunk out my mice one bit.
