e-mail documents

I'm trying to send my grandaughters report card to someone through e-mail but I don't know which file format to use. I just learned how to send pictures but know nothing about sending text. If someone could please help me out without being to technical I would really appreciate it. It can't be that hard or can it? Maybe I should just make a copy & send it snail mail but am determined to learn how to do things on this computer. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I assume that you have a scanner attached to the computer that you want to send this from? If so I would recommend using "Imaging for Windows" which is found in start/programs/accessories/imageing. Most windows machines have this program installed and sending the image to another windows machine should allow them to open it. The extension of this format is *.tif

Tif is uncompressed, and should be compressed to JPEG.

I doubt you could do OCR on a report card.
