Question Locked-up screen

Can anything be done (using the keyboard) when your computer screen "locks-up", other than turning the computer off?

Depends. What operating system are you using?

In Win98, for instance, if the keyboard will respond, you can hit control-alt-delete and the "close program" dialogue box will come up. From there you can close the program or item that is not responding and possibly "unlock" things.

If you're getting a locked screen more than once a week you probably would be well advised to find the problem. Lock ups and hard power reboots can eventually damage data and hard drives.
