deck cleaning question

Last fall I sanded and then used "Cabots clear solutions" on my pressure treated deck. The railings came out great, however the deck section has some dark sections which I suspect are mildew stains. I probably should have powerwashed before staining. What can I do now to brighten it back up again? I believe the Cabots is oil based... any body try cuprinol stain and seal remover?

nrbq999,

To get back to square one with a ready to stain deck you will need to strip off the old Cabot's. It will take a stripper with Sodium Hydroxide. And it should be pressure washed.
If the Cuprinol is NaOH, go ahead and try it. Be careful to read the label carefullty. NaOH is lye.

For the best finished results, a colored oil-base stain is best,
preferably with water repellents and UV protection.
