Fixing Errors

I am building a 14x16 deck. I have (2) 4x10 beams, perpendicular to the house.

I have to fix a problem. When putting in my beams, I made them level but did not level them with each other.

I can't raise the lower beam because the deck would be higher than the door jam. I also can not lower the higher beam because, it is already sitting on the cement piers.

My question is can I replace a 4x10 beam with a 3 (2x8)'s or 6x8.

Sorry, if it this is not explained well.

A 14' X 16' deck with only 2 girders?? You over-spanned your joists!! Go back to square 1. You need 3 girders. 4X10's are fine, IF you are looking at spanning them about 10' to 12' between the posts that support them. I would use 4X6 girders and space the supporting posts about 5' part. LEVEL THEM TO EACH OTHER!! Otherwise, the deck will run either uphill or downhill out from the house.
