Deck Loading

I am designing a small deck 8' by 7' for a hot tub to rest on. The deck will be a foot of of the ground. The Total Weight of the hot tub with people and water is approx. 4500 pounds. I was wondering how many 4x4 posts would have to be used to provide a sturdy structure. Currently I have 4 in each corner, 4 in the middle of each side, and a 4x4 "X" in the middle. All this due to the way the weight is distributed by the tub, sides and middle. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Since your deck is only a foot off the ground, why not put the spa on a slab and build the deck around it? This would also make it easier to climb into the spa. You might have to make a removable hatch in the deck to gain access to the innards for maintenance.

Hello
Sound good and a hot tub is just great. If you are going to build it like your plans you do not need all that support around the outside edge you need to install post on piers under the timbers where the hot tub is going to set more is better than not enough. Here is a great place to have some fun and come up with some great help.
