lumber sizing and joist/beam spacing for hot tub deck
I need to build a deck that will support a 7'X7' hot tub. The deck needs to carry 100lbs/sqft. I need to know if 2X10 joists 16" on center are enough. Also need to know maximum span on these joists for this load so I know how to space beams. I was planning on using doubled-up 2X10's for the beams and 2X6's for the decking. Just wondering if this is enough.

2x10 joists spaced 16" o.c. may be enough, depending on the span. You can find span tables and/or calculators on the following websites:

Doubled up 2x10 beams may also be enough, depending on post spacing, which will probably be 4 to 5 ft. max.
Also, with a hot tub, shifts in water can cause extreme lateral forces, so you will need cross-bracing on your posts and beams.
