Dek-Block

Does anyone have any experience using Dek-Block? I am seriously considering using it to build a new deck (no holes to dig) but would like some input if someone out there has used them. Any information (good or bad) would be great.

Thanks!

I've used them on low level decks. They are pricier than a regular pier block, but work just as well. But who told you there are no holes to dig? Dek-Block or a regular pier block, I ALWAYS set them in a bed of wet concrete that is about 10" deep and 14" square. The advantage of Dek-Block over a regular pier block is in low level decks, where you don't have room for a girder to support the joists.

If you have the height, use a regular pier block with 4X4 posts supporting your girders, which the joists will rest on.

Use a Simpson BC40 half base on the pier block, a Simpson BC4 to connect the post to the girder.
