Arrow New Homeowner--Deck Question

Hello, I am new here and my wife and I just purchased a new home that has a deck already attached. The deck looks like it has never been watersealed so I am wondering should I go ahead and do this? If so, what type should I use. I live up in Oregon so I need something good against our rainy season. I have no idea what type of wood it is.

Any suggestions helpful,

Thanks

Wade

Wade, Welcome.

(Short typing here -- got my finger today!)

Probably either cedar or PT on the decking -- do you see little lines about 1/2" long on the decking? (If you do, it's PT.)

Seal it with Cabots, Silkens, or SuperDeck.

If the wood has grayed or has any algae or possible dark mildew spots you should clean it, let dry, before any staining/sealing.
