porch step rail

my porch floor is about 21inches from the ground.iI set the posts for the steps yesterday and leveled and plumed it out.it work out pretty good. I am planning on 2 steps.I have a cap for my post .If i go from the bottom of my top rail on my porch to the post below the cap appoximately an inch that will give me a angle of around 40-45degrees.Is this average or do i need to add to my 4x4 that i cut offto lessen the angle. Is it possible to add to the 44x4 post and make it look ok. I dont mind the angle so much, but is it too much angle for about 24 inch rise.I ve had several compliments on this porch and i dont want to screw it up!thanks

Your porch is 21" above grade. The 1st step is down 7" and the 2nd step is down 14", then grade at 21" down. PERFECT!.

Now, to set the railing, forget about any angle. You want the rail to be 36" above the nose of the deck, and 36" above the nose of the 2nd step (the one that is 14" below the deck). This way, the rail is PARALLEL with the steps.
