Question installing a railing...

I have a deck built in front of my home, the railing is made up of 4x4 posts, 2x4's, top and bottom with 1x1 inch rails. I now want to build a small railing on the edge of my porch.

I want to use the same materials as I used on the deck railing, however I will have brick on both sides of the railing ? It seems simple enough, but I'm really not sure how to tackle this,

I don't want to use any metal hardware or have a lot of nails/bolts showing. I thought of using 2x4 pieces and secure them to the brick on either side... and then ?? Or I could pre- assemble the box (4 2x4's) and install that first ??

Any suggestions ??

You seem to have it figured out. Since you don't want metal or bolts showing, use a 2x and anchor this to your brick, then install your final trim boards over this and then attach your rail system.

You got it under control!
