Decks using siding

Never built a deck before, but am thinking of building a NEAR ground level deck adjacent to an exit from a newly renovated house. Has anyone ever thought of using a PT siding such as T-11 siding, that is normally used for exterior siding, as the surface decking? The size is aprox. 8'x 32'. Any suggestions or comments on this idea? It seems like it would look o.k. to me.

Thanks for your help

Don't do it!!!

T1-11 siding is designed to be in stalled VERTICALLY, not HORIZONTALLY!! Water doesn't sit on a vertical surface. Even if you slope the deck so the water will run off, it will still find it's way through the joints in the plywood.

I just repaired a plywood deck last November. Cost the owner almost $2,000 -- and this deck was only 6 X 12!!! (The joists were cantilevered extnsions of the floor joists -- I was doing about 1/3 of my work inside his living room!!!)
