sunburst rails
Help! We are building a 12 X 20 deck and want to add some sunburst effect to the railing and I am looking for some plans or assistance in template design.

Can't help you out with plans or templates. The two I have done I just got out a pencil and paper, looked at the photos in the brochures from several decking suppliers and went for it.
Keep in mind tho -- if the deck is more than 30" above grade, the railing has to be to code. The pickets have to be spaced close enough so that a 4" ball cannot be passed through them. If there are steps involved, the handrail has to be designed so that a 6" ball cannot pass through the triangle formed by the step's tread, riser, and the bottom of the handrail.
