Question on deck finish to match hot tub
I just built a deck using IPE as the decking material. It is surrounding my hot tub. The tub is unfinished cedar. I have not sealed the deck or the tub yet. I was curious if anyone knows of a sealer or a stain I can use on the cedar to get the color closer to that of the IPE. I have not decided what I will seal the IPE with yet, so if anyone has a suggestion there that would be great. Any help will be appreciated.

Brian,
Its best to seal this as soon as possible to reduce potential surface checking. If you are wanting to maintain the IPE walnut color then I would suggest these, Penofin, Cabots Timber Oil or Messmers UV. These are transparent penetrating oil based sealers with DV inhibitors in a trans-oxide pigmented "cedar tone". Re-apply these annually.
The cedar tub could be done based on the product you use. I'm sure that they can provide assistance to what would be best.
Hope this helps!
