Hi, I have a concrete deck around my 15 year old pool. It is holding up very well, with a couple crackes that developed at one end the first winter(settling), but the crackes are tiny and not a problem. My question is that in one corner under an evergreen the concrete has turned a little blackish. And around the rest of the concrete it is a bit dirty looking. What do you people think would be the best way to clean this up. I was thinking mixing some bleach and some kind of soap, and making a solution and trying to scrub it. What do you people think is the best thing to do. I really donèt want to fool with muriatic acid and then have to re-seal the concrete. I await your answers. Our deck is large, multi-level and about 20 years old. It was built with green treated lumber. We have treated it with Thompson's Water Seal in the past (I know -mistake #1). Dirt sticks to the deck and you can't even walk on it without shoes - or sit on the benches. It is also starting to splinter. I want to power wash it to get it clean. I have scrubbed it with a brush a couple of times in an attempt to get it clean which has worked but is so labor intensive and I'm not so young anymore! So, will power washing be enough? Then what should we do with it after that? Does it need a sealer? Would staining be better? The nails are not all countersunk, so how would we go about sanding it? Thanks!
