Post Cable Deck Railing $

Hello All on my first post. I have chosen to install cable deck railing on my new and very large deck. The rail systems I have found on the net must be for rich people as they are quite expensive. Could I not buy the needed parts and cable at my local hardware store to truly "DIY" and save a bundle , or will the cost be comparable to that of the kits?

Cable Deck Railing $

All you can do is price it out. I know cable and all the fittings and connectors get very expensive, especially if you are concerned with appearance and durability.

There is another source for cable, fittings etc, but you won't like their prices either. Go to a marine store that carries sailboat parts. Swages and fittings are mostly the same, but since they are used on yachts (even small ones) be prepared to dig deep.

on another note, i priced out a system for a large commercial deck recently and didn't think the price was too bad relative to some of the higher end composite/pvc railing systems.
