Screw Size

If im using 2x6 decking, are 2 1/2" screws long enough? and could I use these with 5/4x6 decking as well?

Also, is there an advantage to using square drive heads vs. phillips?

Thank You!

2-1/2" screws in 2X6 decking are THE bare minimum, but I use 3". The 2-1/2" work well in 5/4 decking.

Bear in mind what screws you are using, and what the framing mat'l is. If you are going into ACQ pressure treated framing, use nothing but SS.
