Question How best to repaint patio framing

Hi -- any advice or ideas for how best to repaint the aluminum framing on a screened patio?

Spray it with enamel -- that's what's on there. Biggest part of the job will be making sure that it's clean.

Aluminum can be painted with either latex or oil base. As lefty said getting the surface clean is very important. Paint doesn't adhere good to a chaulky surface.

What marksr says is true. HOWEVER, I'm assuming that this screen room came from one of the Texas Aluminum (Metals USA) companies, and you want the room to look like it did when it was new. Their original finish is enamel, available in several colors. When I install a room, they include a 'rattle can' of touch up paint that is enamel. If the customer wants a custom color, we take the aluminum to an auto body shop and have it painted before we install it. (We paint the wall panels with latex.)
