Staining Cedar to Match Trex Brasilia Cayenne

We are having a new deck installed made of Trex Brasilia Cayenne and cedar. We would like to stain the cedar to match the composite as close as possible. I have read good things about TWP stains. Which TWP product on cedar would be the best match for Trex Brasilia Cayenne? What other stain products would match Trex Brasilia Cayenne closely?
Thanks for the suggestions!

Begs the question...

Why aren't you doing the entire deck in Trex Brasilia?

That depends. Do you want to match the color before fading, or after fading? Trex fades as it is exposed to the sun and elements, so I'd suggest that you either get a sample and allow it to be exposed to the sunlight for 3 months, or go look at a deck that was built with the exact same material and match your stain to that.

The official Trex website has samples of Trex Brasilia Cayenne before and after fading. (http://www.trex.com/universal/product_info/colors.asp) IMO, that's just a sample and your results will vary.

Match your stain to what the Trex will fade to. The color samples shown on the Trex web site or in a brochure that shows the faded color will work for that. Go to a paint store (one that does paint, only paint, and nothing but paint!!) like Kelly-Moore or Sherman Williams. They can make the color for you. Yes, you are going to pay a bit more for it, but it'll last twice as long and be a better match than some off-the-shelf color that you might find at a big box store.

Thanks for the tips. I'll head over to the local paint place.

We didn't do the entire deck in Trex Brasilia because we didn't like their railing system, not to mention that it costs an absolute fortune. Each contractor that we got a quote from gave us a price that was almost $5-7k more for a full Trex rail system. I wasn't about to pay that much for a railing that I didn't particularly like.

Welcome to the world of decks and railings. You haven't mentioned how big the deck is, but the railing generally costs about as much as the deck itself if you are going with a composite railing. There are other options -- aluminum, aluminum with tempered glass panels, vinyl, wood, ...

Just depends on what you like the looks of, how much maintenance you want, and how much you're willing to pay for it.
