Painting Pressure Treated Wood

This is probably a dumb question with a one-word answer, but I'm replacing the treads on my deck stairs - not the risers or anything else - and I want to paint them gray (to match the existing staircase). Everything I read says I need to wait 90 days to paint pressure treated lumber, and the wood I bought was pretty wet so it definitely needs some time to dry. If I screw it in before painting it, the staircase will look awful. Is there anything I can do, or do I just need to wait?

You really need to wait. The moisture in the wood would be trapped if you seal it too soon = paint failure. A latex stain could be used sooner than an oil base paint could but it is really best to wait.

Smile Stair treads

If you are concerned about appearance while the treads are drying, buy the lumber and store in a well ventlated area for 90 days while it dries. Then do yor intallation and paint immediately.
