What is the best way to build a header for a wrap around porch? Im thinking of 2 2x8's or would lvl be a better choice? What is the best way to butt the two headers together at the corner? The porch only 6 feet deep and about 18 feet down one side and 27 feet down the front of the house. I already have to tear up the decking and install a couple more footings to sure things up, so I want to replace the existing sagging header while Im tearing into it. Any advice would be much appreciated Thanks

Hi, I am new here and am looking for some advice. I am building a retaining wall and need to cut some stone to make corners. I just tried scoring the edges of the stone (all four sides) and then striking the the piece firmly with a hammer. It broke along the score but the broken surface is very uneven (too uneven to be flush against the next piece. Is this the correct way to do it, and is there some trick I am missing? How deep does the score have to be, and does the score have to be very narrow and clean for this to work properly? I thought about using an angle grinder with a masonry blade to score the edges, does this work better. I am hoping not to have to waste any more pieces "learning". Thanks in advance for any help.
