I'm having the framer install the deck in a new house I'm building. What kind of questions do I need to ask when getting a bid?

Looks like you have several areas you need help in with building this house. As far as the deck, if it is attached, make sure it is attached via carriage bolts, and flashed properly to alleviate water infiltration to your house. Footings must meet local area codes for frost lines, and size. Remember, above all, in building this house, seek the help of your local permit/inspection department to know what they will expect when they do the inspection. Building it yourself comes with a case of Aleve or Tylenol. Make sure all your subs are insured and bonded, and get at least 3 bids on each aspect to ensure the best pricing/quality.
