water level too high for footings and sonotube

I'm concerned about a high water table in my backyard. I have already dug 2 holes with the same result. At about 3 feet there is water. I have removed the water (with a pail and rope) twice and have used quikcrete fast setting concrete to try to create a base footing. It was overcome by water within a day! I need to get a solid footing before I set my sonotube (10") and fill it. Any thoughts? By the way, the footing code for my town is 48".

48 inches is a big footing but you can still do it, although it won't be a spread footing. Dig the hole as deep as you want. Cut the tube to size and wrap the bottom of the tube with heavy plastic, so the cement has no place to go and the water can't get to it.

Mix your cement and fill it. You might need 3 bags or more for a footing that size.
