Sealing Cedar inside screen porch

We are having a screened in porch put on the back of our house and are having the cedar siding inside the porch remain unpainted. Should wwe have that part of the cedar sealed or leave it unfinished? The builder wants to seal it with a clear sealer. Thanks...Scott

If you don't apply any coating to the cedar it will eventually turn grey. What type of coating to use really depends on the look you want. Clear sealers like thompson's waterseal typically have a short life. CWF looks great on cedar but it too doesn't have a long life if subjected to much weather. A translucent or semi-transparent stain would also be a good choice.

The cedar used in construction isn't the same as the aromic cedar used to line closets and chests.
