Painting a concrete porch

My home has a concrete porch that is apx. 6x12 and in need of painting. There are probably a few coats of paint since it was built in 1950 and the paint is peeling in several places. How should I prepare the surface and what paint should I use?

Concrete that is exposed to the weather can be problematic with regards to a lasting paint job Between the weather exposure and moisture that can migrate from beneath the slab, it's difficult for paint to adhere long term.

When feasable it's better to use a concrete stain but that would require removal of 90% of the existing paint [100% is better but....] If you can't remove the majority of paint, repaint with a quality porch and deck enamel. Prime the raw areas with the same paint - just thin it about 10% for those areas. Apply uncut for the top coat.
