Pergola Beam Span

Is there a Pergola Beam Span table availble anywhere? I've searched every where, but not finding much other than non-professional opinion. I've got a 13' X 12' Free standing Pergola with the 2X8 or possibly 2X10 rafters spaning the 12' direction. What size would the 13' beam size need to be? Would a double-up 2X10 span the 13'-0"?

There are variables, like the snow load (if any) involved, the species of wood you will be using, wind load, ...

Best bet is to go ask your local bldg. dept.

Snow load? It's just a bunch of beams. How much could they possibly carry?

Whatever structure you will be putting up has to be done so that it will survive in whatever conditions it may reasonably encounter. If you live in an area with a 30# snow load, you need to build to that.
