Question

Am trying to baby-proof a deck for this summer. Would putting outdoor carpet on top of my wooden deck ruin it? The deck stands 5 ft tall and has storage for the trash cans underneath. Am curious what would happen to the wood, if anything. The deck gets the full sun all morning -- and air from underneath. Think I'd be growing Mildew as a summer project, creating a new deck project for next spring?

Thanks!

Cool

If your deck is made out of pressure-treated wood, you can put down indoor/outdoor carpet over it for the baby.
However, I would just use screws on the edges so that it could be removed in the off-season.
It WILL hold water on your wood, which isn't a good idea, because it could promote mold or rot long-term, but doing it for the baby should be o.k., off and on.
You can always pressure-wash any mold off.
Good Luck!
