Concrete pillar/post footing size- Arizona
I am in the process of planning and building a 12' x 15' Pergola. The post will be made of concrete building blocks 8' high. The post will be concrete and re-bar filled. The blocks 8x8x16 will be two wide making the post 16" square, to be stuccoed after finished. I live in Arizona, 0" frost line. The top beams will be 12x6, topped with 12x4 rafters, topped with 3x6 slats.
Question: Footing size for the concrete post? currently planning on 2' x 2' x2'.
Thanks for the advice. Inspiration for the project is below.

Once again, I agree with Pulpo--what's this world coming to? Using treated 6 x 6 corner columns would be much easier and quicker than building the block monstrosities you mentioned, and I think would look better as well. If you plan to batch your own concrete for the footing dimensions listed, plan on using 14 (large) bags of prepackaged concrete mix for each. And plan on renting a mixer for a day or two if you don't own one already.
