Post sleeves for deck railig posts on outside of rim joist?
For various reasons I want to mount my deck railing posts on the outside of the rim joist. Are there any post sleeves available that will work with the posts on the outside of the rim joist?
Thanks, Mike.

You probably need to use Simpson DTT2 brackets, as depicted on page 16 of their deck manual.
They are installed on the joists and/or on blocking to give you a strong connection that resists lateral loads and helps meet code: "Handrail assemblies and guards shall be able to resist a single concentrated load of 200 pounds, applied in any direction at any point along the top."
