building patio
i want to build a wooden patio ( 16' x 10' )that will attach to the side of my house. That side has gutters attached it and my question is if there is a way that i can build the patio without removing the gutters? what is the normal recommended practice. Thank you.

You mean you want to build a deck? How far off the ground? As asked already, what do gutters have to do with this?

On my deck, I built it around the gutter. Meaning, I planned the framing such that the gutter fell mid-section between joists. I cut the decking to go around the gutter. The gutter therefore extends to below the deck and I put a long extension at the elbow to carry the water to the outer edge of the deck.

i will get some pictures later. i want to extend the roof from over house over the roof of the patio and it seems without remove the gutters , i can't attach the main beams of the patio to the house roof since the wall is brick and mortar. otherwise and plus the rain water can sip through the water between patio and gutters.
